History
We have recently updated our History Curriculum in light of the OFSTED Subject Report into History and feel really excited that we have managed to make some small changes to our history curriculum to ensure it is even better. We think we have developed a curriculum which reflects the local context as well as the wider world and which inspires pupils to want to learn about the past so they can use this knowledge to change the future. We are confident that our history curriculum not only gives them the knowledge and skills of the past but also that it encourages them to be passionate and inspired historians who analyse evidence, explore artefacts, ask historically pertinent questions and make judgements on what we have shared with them. Below you will find our progression of knowledge and skills, our 'Intent, Implementation and Impact' statement as well as a presentation on our vision for the teaching of History at St Mewan. Below this there are then the mapped knowledge and skills we will teach pupils unit-by-unit and lesson-by-lesson, with the vocabulary to accompany them. Finally you will find a historical narrative for each unit which encompasses all the 'sticky' knowledge and skills the children will gain in their history learning for that period.
