Writing
We believe every pupils deserves to be able to leave our school confident in their ability to express themselves through the written word. We teach writing skills - both mechanical and creative- for life, so that our pupils understand how to structure and edit their writing for any audience and purpose they may meet now or in their future education and lives. We believe that being able to express themselves well through writing, as well as through the spoken word, will open doors for their futures that can take them anyway. We have spent considerable time writing our curriculum for writing and are constantly reviewing and improving this based on recent research. We are told by our local secondary schools that they can tell which pupils come from our school through the quality of their writing and editing. We are told by our county moderators that the work our Year 6 pupils produce at the end of their journey with us is some of the best year 6 writing they have seen. We are proud of our teaching of writing and even prouder of all this allows our pupils to achieve now and in their futures.
